Should you do 10-12 reps of a certain exercise? Would 20 reps be better? What about two?

My experience tells me that most people perform somewhere between 10 and 15 reps of the exercises that they choose. This allows them to get some burning and fatigue sensation in the muscle and helps them feel that they are hitting the target. There is nothing wrong with this thought process if it aligns with your goals, however if you are looking to add muscle, strength, power, speed, or endurance this strategy will not work long-term and your progress will stall at some point. The rest of this blog will address how to identify which rep range to use. Note: I am only writing about resistance training exercises here.
